How was your Christmas?

I thought mine had plans to do me in! Just so you understand we gave in to insanity and moved house on the 16th of December, ran a stall at the coldest outdoor christmas market in the world on the 17th, put in a full week of work and unpacked (what felt like) millions of boxes 18th to 23rd, shopped, gift wrapped and put up the tree on the 24th...I'm going to need a year to recover...make that two years!

I have no new sewing to show you all, in fact I'm only semi sure where The Beast is right now *hangs up sewing pride in a dusty corner of the loft* but heres some blocks I forgot to share before the move :)

These are for The japanese x and + block swap I'm running on Flickr...it starts in 11 days if anyone fancies signing up *nudge hint nudge* :)

As for the big day its self we had a blast, really chilled out with family, food and drinks. After putting the tree up at 10pm Christmas eve I feel our little girlie tree needs a little showing off here on the blog -

Yes the tree is wonky...it didn't start off that way but if you have a cat you'll understand.

My union jack tree, it just makes me grin whenever I look at it!

My tree is girlie pink and proud of it with lashings of sparkles and twinkly fairy lights, over kill to some but not me or a 9 year old Madam :D

Just before christmas I was the lucky winner of one of Jodi's quilts...if you have little ones go and check out her Etsy shop Tickle and Hide The clothes are enough to make me get all wistful for little people to shop and make for!

You have to love a manly man that will go out of his way to get you new quilting gloves and a japanese pattern book for christmas :) I also was gifted some amazing scrap packs but they really don't photograph well, don't panic though I have plans for them so you'll get to see the cute japanese fabrics soon. Speaking of Japanese can anyone that reads my blog read it? That pattern book in the middle is completely in japanese so other than following the pictures I think I may have a giggle using it! (and you guys have all witnessed my inability to follow a quilting pattern without tweaking it!) 

My plans are now to spend what free time I have before New Year to sort out the loft (soon to be sewing room) so I can kick off some more bee blocks and x&+ blocks before any bee mama's have to come hunting me down!

Hi everyone!
Between sewing like a mad woman and doing my real life job (oh the joys of retail at Christmas!) I'm taking the opportunity to pop onto my blog and wish you all a happy holiday!
I'm not sure if I'll manage any post's between now and the big day but I am trying to keep up with my google reader and drop the odd comment when I can, so if I don't catch up with you before I hope you have a great time surrounded with people that you love :)

So much sewing, not much cleaning!

If you're looking for the Japanese x and + block swap we're over here

I've been sewing up a storm this last 4 days Bee blocks, cushions and quilts have all been sewn into submission!

These are for Rick from the Sewn Together Bee. He's the only guy in any of the Bees and swaps I'm in, I loved using the screen printed fabric and having the freedom to play with them! 

This one is for Jenna in our Sew Bee It Bee. The poor soul has waited MONTHS for me to get rid of my sweaty palms and deal with flying geese. I don't know if when I was little a goose flew over and $hat on me but from the get go these things intimidate me. 4 trial runs and this was the best I could do. 

These ones are for Lindsey Over on Sew Bee it as well. We were asked to make up whatever we wanted aiming for a modern sampler look for her quilt.

After the blocks were sewn up for Bee's I started on Christmas cushions. I really wanted to play with all of the fancy stitches on The Beast...So I did :)

I appreciate not everyone loves rainbow vomit brights like I do so I ran off 3 creamy white and 2 bright green (frankly because I need to sew with colour!)

Then I made a quilt as you go cushion and backed it with some Amy Butler, I didn't sew the strips wonky (altho it wouldn't be the 1st time if I had!) they are from a Jelly roll and were cut like that :(

I had tried to line up the prints on the back but it wasn't to be, never mind - I'll live :)

So lots of cushions sewn up then I moved onto quilts, at this point I did look at my sewing room floor and wonder what colour my carpet was meant to be as it was utterly coated in threads and snippets of fabric!

I managed with the help of the ladies in Sew Modern Bee to put together this quilt

Some of the blocks are being put together to make a giant floor cushion for Madam :)

Then this one with the help of my Hive mates in the 3x6

These ladies rock so much, I ended up receiving 2 3 and 4 blocks from some of them and have enough blocks left over from to make a second lap quilt :D Thank you all lots and lots! 

So the last 2 I've shown still need binding put on but unless someone can work out how to get more than 24 hours in a day they'll have to wait till the weekend!
