FairlyMerry's Quilt blocks

Well it's been a fun few days here, my fabric came from our Sew modern quilt bee Queen bee this month - The lovely FairlyMerry.
The block design was one I hadn't tried before and it had a fun twist!

Confetti Blocks with the solid fabric as the "Confetti". These guys are going to be 10.5" square once trimmed - I hope she loves them.

Other fun fabric goings on here involved me picking out fabric for my next set of 12 bento blocks. The quilt I'm planning on making requires 24 full blocks so 12 down 12 to go, but thought I'd share a pic of the fabric selection process :)

5" wide stripes of fabric over the ironing board, papasan chair, power plate and some toes.

Hope you have a great weekend and if you managed to watch it, how gorgeous was Kate's dress?!?

I've not been kidnapped by aliens!

Hello!
Sorry it seems to have been ages since I've updated here but the time has flown over the last 2 weeks!
Completed projects since I blogged last
1 emergency laptop cover, my lappy broke and needed to be taken to be looked at. Only then did I realise I don't have a case for it!
So I dug out my Spring Street fabric and a little Amy Butler Laurel dots in periwinkle for the lining, threw them together and hoped they played well together!

4 more Bento blocks for the Crazy Bento Block Swap

1 craft bag for mums birthday
When my mum noticed this line in my stash she "casually" mentioned she liked it.
A while ago she wandered over to Attic24's blog and was duly inspired to dust off her crotchet hooks, as her birthday is coming up I thought I'd make her a bag to keep her lovely creations in whilst she's on the move.

I thought I had better add a an inner pocket for patterns and such, so decided to go with Larkspur in painters pots indigo to add some contrast.

1 quilt for daughters birthday

Photo taken on a trip to the beach today!
I had 6 days to make this quilt which made me panic a little, but its all put together now and well loved - which makes me a happy mama bear :)

So what have you been making over the past 2 weeks?
Hope your having a lovely Easter weekend and manage to squeeze a little sewing time in.

Bento Boxes

Afternoon everyone
I have spent most of today running off Bento Box blocks for the Crazy bento block swap  I'm involved in on Flickr. Things I've learned during sewing these blocks
1 - Don't change your machine settings in the middle of making ANYTHING. I had a headache trying to get them back to what they were originally set to and I still have no clue as to what I pressed on the machinate change them in the first place.
2 - You always have more scraps than you think!
Anyway here we go...

They were made using a tutorial from Film in the fridge and thats what I have so far. I've got another 6 to do but they'll need to wait until my next day off work.
Have a great week!

Shopping spree!

Hello everyone out there in interweb land
What a fabulous weekend I've had fabric wise, I gave into temptation and shopped till the plastic melted. It was Soooo much fun!!!!
I have to share so here's a peek

Tufted tweets
I just love how bright and rich these colours are in real life, due to living in North East England however we have no natural light...nope none at all...well...maybe a little, but not enough to take good pictures, so you'll just have to believe me when I say these are bright and beautiful!

Venice
What do you think of at the place name Venice? Wine, birds, books, trees and architecture obviously! I adore these prints, so fun and happy.

Aviary 2 in Bark
Aviary 2 in Lilac
Aviary 2 in Granite

I think I have fallen in love with this whole collection, so I bought a FQ of each print.

So it's been a slightly excessive weekend in terms of fabric shopping for me and I may have to eat baked beans on toast all week but my stash is very happy.
I have just noticed while writing this that every line has a bird print in it, I'm sure Issabella will be happy with all the birds in the house!

I have no idea what will be made from all of this birdie madness but I'm sure I'll have fun playing with them :)

I also got myself along to Pins and Needles on Friday. For anyone not in the UK it's a huge craft exhibition, I went with camera in hand and will post the pics once I've had the chance to sit down and go over them. I will say though that the full size knitted angel and "The scream" by  Edvard Munch turned into a wall hanging were utterly outstanding.

Hope you had a good weekend
